Isn't this an Austin Ambassador, not a Princess? |

The Ambassador seems to have an extra 3rd side window where the Princess only has a large "jamb" (not sure it is the right word; in French it is "montant") which is black here. -- Last edit: 2005-12-16 09:59:25 |

Although everyone refers to this car as an Austin Princess, technically it was a Leyland Princess. See this wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyland_Princess |

The Ambassador was a hatchback for 1983-84, the Princess had a boot. This has the boot, hinged just below the window. ![]() |

When on pristine Princess wasn't yet available factory-made the hatchback,Crayford realizes a conversion in 1976 on that body with half tailgate's trunk modified in a hatch |

Yes, true, Torcars did too - and these were ordered officially though BL dealerships. The Crayford can be recognised by the roof hinges that are quite prominent (tall), the Torcars also but much tidier (flatter). But this isn't one of them Both Princess & Ambassador are getting extinct now in the UK... |
