Grey U.K. saloon is Austin A40 Devon. The “Prefect” looks more like a Mk1 Zephyr to me. Green/cream Lorry is Austin or Morris WE. “Pininfarina” is a big’un. Princess 3 litre. Some Rootes-scrap for dsl in 3rd row of that image. -- Last edit: 2020-06-21 16:37:47 |

Interesting. Aus never had Austin-badged Minis. They also never made a normal Mk1 estate, but did make Morris vans (with the usual shiny saloon grille, not the UK painted pressing) which 1964-65 were called 850 Van, then 65+ Mini Van. And because there were no proper estates, there were loads of folk offering window conversions. So the result looks and tastes like a UK Morris Mini Traveller, but was always a van in a party dress and lipstick. |

Good find for Aus. No local build, so one of the few BMC things they still imported. |

Aus did not like having a Singer range, so rebadged their Singer versions as Hillmans (or in the case of Vogues as Humbers). The Gazelle became the Hillman Minx Series IIIc Australian De Luxe [ADL]. |
