This black and white educational film from the 1930s is about the "Land of Rhodes" - Rhodesia and South Africa, which features many landmarks, including Johannesburg, and the railways built by Cecil Rhodes. A staunch supporter of British imperialism, Cecil John Rhodes and his British South Africa Company founded the southern African territory of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia), to which the company gave its name in 1895. Rhodes University in South Africa also bears his name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_6ZPbXrpbo&t=142s Background vehicles: Train: Boat: |
