This film was set in 1925 and later from 1934 to 1939 and was about the treatment of the Duke of York, Prince Albert (later King George VI, father of Queen Elizabeth II, and grandfather of the current king, Charles III) of his speech impediment by Australian Speech Therapist, Lionel Logue. This film also dealt with events of the Interwar Period in Britain during the 1920s and 1930s: The closing speech at the British Empire Exhibition - George VI's speech at the closing of the British Empire Exhibition on the 31st October 1925. George V's Regin - The last years of George VI's father, King George V from 1934 to his death on the 20th January 1936. Price Edward and Mrs. Wallis Simpson - The affair between George VI's eldest brother, Edward VIII and American divorcee, Wallis Simpson from December 1934 to their marriage on the 3rd June 1937 and his death on the 28th May 1972. King Edward VIII's Reign - The shortest reign of King Edward VIII from the 20th January to the 11th December 1936 over his affair with Mrs. Simpson. The Coronation of Prince Albert - The crowning of Prince Albert as King George VI at Westminster Abbey on the 12th May 1937. Changing of the Prime Minsters - The resignation of British Prime Minster, Stanley Baldwin and the appointment of Neville Chamberlain as Prime Minster on the 28th May 1937.
