![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Another UK-made film for foreign (Commonwealth) consumption about how Britain is surviving the war, with a spoken intro by a Famous Canadian Leonard Brockington - how many other famous Canadians are there ![]() Anyway, this is an unusual propaganda film. No bombsites or wrecked slums for a start. Its theme is the noises and sounds of wartime life, so is (very high quality) sound recordings supported by footage, not the usual format of visuals accompanied by supporting sound. Got a mixed response at the time - eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listen_to_Britain - but now highly regarded and it is fascinating today - worth tracking down a proper copy as youtube copy at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq1UqU2u1hs is poor quality for sound and visuals and loses a lot of impact. Some footage reused for Public Service Broadcasting video of Waltz for George, but no vehicles in those extracts so no imcdb page opened. Also some short extracts reused in another PSB video If War Should Come for the tank factory (page above) and the Lancaster bombers (below) - /movie.php?id=1004515899 . Some buses at 16-40: ![]() ![]() ![]() Planes for impdb in 2 sequences: ![]() ![]() ![]() and ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Most of the buses are AEC Regents of Class STL, there was more than one style of coachwork in this class. However, I am foxed by the bus nearest to the camera in thumbnail 3 with the advert for Churchman's gaspers. -- Last edit: 2014-08-27 17:48:08 |
