DidierF ◊ 2015-05-09 03:28	directed by William Cameron Menzies, with very forgotten (or unknown to me) actors, Elliott Reid, Carla Balenda: Edgar Barrier, Otto Waldis as the mad nazi-turned-commie scientist: Michael Steele and (this one I know) Raymond Burr, in his usual parts of villain at the time: (a very convincing one). Well… A B-minus-minus-movie. Probably worst because of a hasty re-writing to switch from anti-nazi (in 51!) movie (scenes with Adolf Hitler seem to have been made then cut!) to surf on the red-scare and hunt, a script in which ex-nazis-turned-communists want, after settling in Winnoga, Minnesota, to destroy America through germ warfare. (They won't succeed.) There was a good set-up for at least the first part of the movie. The ending is terrible. One truck: 00:10:14 and one bus passing on the screen (movie in the movie): 00:14:39 Un film d'angoisse, assez réussi dans sa première moitié, puis outrageusement bâclé dans sa résolution. M'enfin, on voit tout de même des nazis communistes à deux doigts de liquider toute "l'Amérique" à partir du trou du cul du monde, Winnoga, quelque part entre Chicago et la frontière canadienne, par la grâce de germes savamment dispersés. Notons tout de même que William Cameron Menzies fut un grand chef-décorateur —Autant en emporte le vent ou Arch of Triumph— avant de signer la réalisation de telles panouilles pour la RKO d'Howard Hughes. -- Last edit: 2015-05-09 03:29:22
