 Could anybody tell me why some Toyotas were named Toyopets in Japan ? Why other models were Toyotas ? Did this happen in Japan, only ?

 It was the name given to the TOYOTA vehicles from 1947 to the mid 60's.

From September 1947, Toyota's small-sized vehicles were sold under the name "Toyopet" (トヨペット).[28] The first vehicle sold under this name was the Toyopet SA,[29] but it also included vehicles such as the Toyopet SB light truck, Toyopet Stout light truck,[30] Toyopet Crown, Toyopet Master, and the Toyopet Corona. The word "Toyopet (Japanese article)" was a nickname given to the Toyota SA due to its small size, as the result of a naming contest the Toyota Company organized in 1947. However, when Toyota eventually entered the American market in 1957 with the Crown, the name was not well received due to connotations of toys and pets.[31] The name was soon dropped for the American market, but continued in other markets until the mid-1960s.

 Thank you sixcyl, but I am wondering why 1971 Crowns for the japanese market are sometime name as Toypets and other times Toyotas in this site ?

 Any crown made after 1969 is a Toyota. TMC did away with the Toyopet name around that time.
And they chose the Toyopet name after European and American officials told the car makers the connotations about the name "ToyoLet"
