Good pictures & great rallying days, when the cars were near enough standard production vehicles (fun seeing Mini's compete against sporty cars like the Porsche & Alpine + also large cars taking part, like the Ford Mustang, Citroen DS etc... Also Rolls Royce & Jaguar at this time, but not in this movie ![]() |

By the title, was this movie also shown in the GDR? If yes, it must have been aggrieving for the GDR-people. Great cars, great landscapes, great destinations, all stuff, they never had been able to see until November 1989 (resp.July 1990, until they got real money). -- Last edit: 2008-11-14 18:29:10 |

Thanks guys! And also what a "teams" there were - a husband behind the wheel and next to him his wife as a co-driver. Between the curves they could discuss their problems in home. Someone forget about the helmet? Who would care about such details. ![]() Though actually all these real Monte Carlo, Italy etc. is not nice visible - only in sephia and blue, the entire movie was faked in our Tatra mountains. -- Last edit: 2008-11-24 22:08:20 |

Great fun going through all these and trying to work out which was genuine or fake. I think there may be a 3rd group, where they refilmed some genuine 1968 Monte rally cars; most of those where I think this might have happened were private entrants who retired - there are too many car-to-car shots to have been possible during the rally eg /vehicle_200470-Morris-Mini-Cooper-1966.html , /vehicle_66987-Renault-8-Gordini-R1135-1967.html . 1968 results/entrants list at http://www.dlg.speedfreaks.org/archive/www2/euroral/68euro.html . -- Last edit: 2011-04-04 21:56:16 |

Great work(!) with all those additional infos according to 1968 RMC entry list etc. All color pics are from faked rally, though sometimes to fit to the footages the made for movie shots were also done in sephia or blue. -- Last edit: 2011-04-05 17:47:42 |
