1986 animated anti-war movie about an elderly couple in the English countryside surviving a nuclear attack (that more resembles an F5 tornado) and attempting to cope with the devastating aftermath. This movie does have a very interesting blend of live-action model settings with animated characters and every item they touch is live action, animated via stop motion. That being said, I honestly don't know which is the sadder film; Johnny Got His Gun or this. Apparently people in the UK were given pamphlets that, among other things, advised building a fallout shelter out of wooden doors and couch cushions. This is basically Watership Down meets nuclear war. Some generic vehicles, unless they can be identified. |

Agree it's an incredibly powerful film - stuck in my mind for a long time. I always remember the line about the lettuces as particularly poignant. I think the 3 dr hatch is a Sierra XR4, but without the rear spoiler. |

A BR Class 40 appears pulling a passenger train. When the nuke explodes, a building's roof is blown into the train which causes it to fall off of a bridge. We watched this in one of my history classes in high school, very good movie, great to see it on IMCDB. Edit: Assuming the movie takes place around the time it came out (1986-ish), weren't all Class 40's out of service by then? -- Last edit: 2024-02-03 07:42:16 |
