^ What do you know, it was perfectly dreadful (I had no idea white slavery was supposed to be hilarious), but since I expected that, I wasn't annoyed. But I did keep wishing somebody like Tom Hanks was in the lead because Keanu Reeves was just plain awful and he doesn't look like the embarrassing nerd he was supposed to be. The more of his early movies I see, the more surprised I am that his career went where it did.

Upgraded to HD.

@humungus, did you ever see River's Edge (1986)? That is good but the standout role is instead Crispin Glover.

^ Not yet. It's on my "to-see" list, though.

he was very lucky as many other actors declined SPEED (1994) among them Wesley Snipes, most of the Baldwin brothers , Richard Grieco, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Woody Harrelson so he was finally offered but insisted on script changes and the studio did relent and signed him

^ I gathered that eventually. While I remember watching some episodes of that show, I don't actually remember her at all, just the rest of the main cast for some reason. She's more familiar to me these days as an ex-con...

Incidentally, this was her second movie with Keanu Reeves. Their first was Brotherhood of Justice, a rather dire TV movie with a couple of other young upstarts whose work also left me surprised at (some of) their subsequent careers.

maybe it's for the better you don't remember that sitcom (overrated garbage like Friends, Jerry Seinfeld show etc), :o the really good creme de la creme sitcoms are

- Married With ... Children , raunchy humor hot girls great acting enough said
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRnC34TH8AY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAKaJE4gjYg

- Unhappily Ever After, same creator as MWC so tone and humor very similar, many hot girls too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfAVDRNR6H8

- The Nanny, liked Niles the butler and CC bickering most
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGFAlgsZkik

- Home Improvement
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHIOzsU0fbM

- Family Matters, first season your average sitcom with black cast but after that it becomes more and more the Steve Urkel show and tone becomes more wacky and surreal
