I belive this is a FM http://www.aronline.co.uk/blogs/commercials/commerials-light-trucks/ . According to the link, the WF was branded BMC during the years 1968-70, and as the FM stopped being produced in 1968 that would argue this is a MY 1968 only. But there is another possibility; were British Leyland heavy vehicles branded BMC in Australia for a longer period? |

FG K100 5-Ton 160" w/base 17" wheels and bonnet extended for extra length of the six-cylinder diesel engine. (The FM had a forward mounted four cylinder engine for a three-person cab produced for GPO/BT telephones). BMC 5-60F [FG] possibly for Australian built FG 5-tonners (160" wheelbase). -- Last edit: 2017-02-24 12:59:09 |

My usually reliable book on BMC-in-Aus trips up on these - only shows this extended nose as a "1961-68 Leyland FM" in 4.60-4.80 and 5.60-5.80, alongside normal nose 1960-68 Austin FG in smaller capacities. But the B for BMC is obvious here, and Leyland badge makes no sense until the UK BMC-Leyland merger in 1968 at earliest. This looks like a local build squared body - not a known UK style. In UK, BMC badge was usually 68-70-ish so I'd guess this as similar 68+. |

Its a common error I think - the FM (AFAIK) was UK only and a contract specifically for for GPO telephone use. The other long snout was the six-cylinder 5-tonner which remained the FG Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" |

As a working assumption until further evidence, I'd guess the full branding sequence in Aus was early 1960s-68 Austin, 1968-70(?) BMC, 1970(?)+ Leyland (or maybe 1972 when Aus Minis all became Leyland??). |

1970 (March brochure) appears to be the start of Leyland branding for trucks in Australia; 1969 (July brochure) was still 'BMC', from previous eBay Australian brochure listings. So 1970 rather than 1972 for Leyland trucks I think. |
