Consul Classic if sedan, Consul Capri if coupé. |

The roofline indicates sedan, with no doubt. |

Isn't the model name Consul 315 used for export market ?? The surroundings reminds me of UK, or not? -- Last edit: 2020-02-28 23:02:06 |

That is in U.K. and the cars were always Classic for the saloon, and Capri for the Coupé, as said above. There were so many different Fords called Consul something that the Classic Capri and Cortina virtually didn’t use it. |

Ford had a brief idea of establishing Consul as a stand-alone brand, so the Consul Mk2 became Consul 375, the 315 and 335 numbers emerged, and the next stage was going to be the Cortina as Consul 220 (2 door) and 240 (4 door). But some Big Cheese got cold feet and decided Cortina, so the rest of the numbers quietly fell down. Although when Aus started making Cortinas, they picked up the numbers for 220/240, and with the 1498cc engine 420/440. |
