1979+ in L or LS trim (You can write L as the LS was the L with the 1.6 bigger engine instead than the 1.1.

Sorry, but it's a 1976-1978-version, as it has chrome bumpers incombination with plastic mirrors ;)

A scene from AUS? If yes, then locally assembled.

Full info about Volkswagen Australian assembly and import in 50-70s.

Type 1 VW Beetles weren't sold in Australia until 1954. Australian CKD assembled (1954-59, 1968-76) lag-up to 6 months behind German-built models. Full Australian manufacture production year (1960-67) is usually February-January but can vary. In 1968 when German CKD kit assembly resumed. There was Australian-manufactured VW Country Buggy, had [type 1182] or [type 1183] prefix.

Transporters were made for 1955-1976, then fully imported afterwards.

Type 14 was available 1959-1968, fully imported from Germany. Only about 800 were sold in Australia.

VW Type 3 Sedans and Station Wagons were sold in Australia from 2/1963, and apart from the first few months of sales, were Australian-made throughout. In 1965 the Fastback was introduced, fully imported from Germany. From 1968 the entire Type 3 range was locally assembled from CKD kits.

The imported Type 34 was only available 1965-1968, and then only by special order. Less than 20 were sold here.

Type 13 were called the Superbug S (1971-72) and Superbug L (1973-75) in Australia, and were similar to the European 1302S and 1303S models.

The Passat I was assembled from 1974-76 then fully imported from 1977-81.

The Golf I wasn't sold until 1976 (locally assembled LS only). From 1977-81 only the imported German GLS/GLD was sold here.

The Australian assembly ended in March 1977, and all subsequent models have been fully imported.

The VW Type 4, Type 181, K70, Beetle Cabriolets and Super Beetle Cabriolets, Golf GTi [type 17] were never sold in Australia.

Black door handle, AFAIK a MY1977 feature. So rather a 1977-78 imported GLS/GLD
