abctelevision ◊ 2007-03-18 01:18	It is for this episode of The Baron, which is called 'Something for a Rainy Day', that the so called 'Elstree white Jaguar footage' was originally filmed, showing the car leaving the road at Ivinhoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire (although this is supposed to be in France) and then going off the edge of a cliff at a quarry at Boxhill, near Dorking in Surrey, then being destroyed on the rocks below. It was supposedly deemed quite expensive, and was used extensively in other series by the same production company (Incorporated Television Company, or ITC) like The Champions, The Persuaders and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). There was also further footage shot for episode seventeen of this series which appeared in other productions, such as for this little sequence in The Champions: /vehicle_51139-Jaguar-MkI.html . The giveaway is that the season on the road changes halfway through! Yes, if someone got into a white Jaguar in the late 1960s on British television, there was bound to be trouble. ProwlerX ◊ 2007-08-17 20:45	So this was the Jaguar I was searching for! I guess this scene really was popular for other TV shows to use over and over again. Such as Toonces The Driving Cat from SNL.

dsl ◊ 2014-10-05 12:44	WRP 344 was genuine 1960 issue - and looks like a Mk.II 2.4 with plain wheels. "NMK 76" on the stunt Mk.I was a 63 issue, so several years too late for a MkI. No trace of either plate today; however the linked page wreck photo looks more like NWK 76 to me - a mid-55 Coventry plate, so theoretically just about squeezes in as a very very early possibly ex-factory Mk.I. The problem is that the flying car is probably a 57+ Mk.I 3.4 with open rear wheel spats as discussed at /vehicle_51139-Jaguar-MkI.html .
