... and RHD. The local assembly question again ...

Please change to "built in Netherlands, made for ZA"

The Taunus P3 was not produced in South Africa, apart from 500 Pick-Ups. The Taunus (probably built in Cologne) was converted to RHD in Amsterdam, and then shipped over to South Africa, where British models were built.

The link is German, but it contains an article about Ford in South Africa.

Can't comment on P3 for ZA as it's too early for my sources, but World Car Catalogue listings for foreign Taunus assembly from various 67-75 editions gives:
- Belgium - 12M, 15M
- Costa Rica - 17M, 20M
- Peru - 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M
- Phillipines - 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M
- Portugal - 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M
- South Africa - 17M, 20M

By 1975 Costa Rica, Peru and Phillipines had stopped German-supplied assembly. Belgium was doing lots of other Ford D products and Portugal and ZA are listed as doing only Consul and Granada as German-supplied (plus various UK-supplied models).

Additional info and examples that Hyundai in Korea did some 20M [P7] saloons and estate around 1969.

Possible also that there was some Taiwan and Thailand [P7B] assembly - I've lost the references now.

This Taunus probably built in NL - not so much converted to RHD as built with RHD. Later Taunuses - [P5] at least - in ZA with RHD were built there.
