What country was this movie made in? Looking at the taillights this might actually be a Toyota Cavalier which was built by GM in the US and marketed by Toyota during 1996-2000. The car was only initially sold in Japan but I heard it was exported to alot of European countries. Any thoughts? |

According to IMDB it is made in Russia. |

It could be a Chevy but the tail lights suggest Toyota. Sadly there is no badging on the car. Does anyone know if the Cavalier was imported into Russia? |

Def Toyota taillights and it looks to be LHD all Toyota Cavaliers were RHD -- Last edit: 2009-09-03 22:30:55 |

Well, the US gave a lot of cars to the Russian police after the Wall fell. |

Taillamps indeed indicate a Toyota Cavalier - I don't think the Chevrolet was ever sold in any European country (where the samp taillamp cluster might have been used), but in Russia, used Japanese cars are quite popular because, contrary to continental Europe, they can be registered RHD. Another frame could help us see if it is indeed RHD. The "American hand-me-down" theory is not that plausible, as I don't think American police ever used Cavaliers, and sourcing those taillamp clusters is rather problematic. I might be wrong though. |

Well, the rear bumper seems to fitted in with Russia plate at least. As I recalled some years ago I surfed at the Russia Chevrolet web site and indeed that they do sell Chevrolet vehicle at Russia there... Do you think we can put this made for Russia? |

I guess we need to ask somebody from Russia... I can think of Dmitry from GMInsideNews, but I haven't been seeing him for quite some time now... |

(PS - actually it looks like the plastic moldings at the edges of the license plate were removed so that the Russian plate would fit. See original here -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Toyota_Cavalier_Rearlights.jpg and here -> Link to "english.auto.vl.ru" - both are coupes, but the bumper was the same IIRC) |

Just to clear this up even though it has been quite a while. This is 100% a Chevrolet Cavalier despite the Toyota taillights. All Toyotas had the radio antenna integrated in the windshield, this car clearly has the USDM Chevy mast antenna on the rear quarter panel. The Toyota also had body colored bumpers on all trims (2.4, 2.4G, 2.4Z) and this car is also wearing the Chevrolet only wheel covers. |
