Morrison-Electricar or Smiths I think but the body looks unusual to me (even allowing for the extra child-safety glass). |

Reminds me a bit of the Dinky one which seems to be a 'NCB' which stands for Northern Coachbuilders or was that just the bodywork ![]() -- Last edit: 2014-09-03 16:38:52 |

This milk float from the movie is the same as this one however I cannot be certain the original identification is correct but Morrison-Electricar is likely I will set it with 'model' unknown until a better determination can be made. /vehicle_254219-Morrison-Electricar-D1.html re- Dinky Toys 'NCB' milk float this would refer to Smiths with Northern Coachbuilders body I believe... http://www.ipswichtransportmuseum.co.uk/pv8337.htm |

For verification of the model as 'BM 10C E' (about 1947) as the owner it appears valid but not found anywhere in connection with Morrison-Electricar milk floats (D1, D2 etc...) http://www.milkbottlenews.org.uk/photos/morrison1.html https://www.flickr.com/photos/29520195@N08/4867623591/ |

Was this type used by the Co-op in the 1950s for milk deliveries? And would doors have been an option - maybe for an equivalent bakery van, say? |

The Co-op used some Smiths NCB milk floats as here although there was possibly no centralised purchasing of vehilces and each Co-op society in parts of the country bought whatever they could? In the 1940s various makes were probably sourced because there was a shortage of post war vehicles including milk floats. For the milk float in the movie, the chassis is from 1949, but not the body. It was probably rebodied probably in the 1960s, retaining most of the cab but with a higher roof and new load area compared with this Morrison-Electricar D1 20 cwt |
