Arghh, why destroy a brand-new Mustang when they could have used an older one in the scene? And why ruin a perfectly good late model S-Class?

The budget of this movie was only 25 million, though. Not what I call a big budget film.

assuming that its a base Mustang it was a little less than 13 000 $CDN ( surely less in USD ), not too expensive but i agree with you, getting a brand new Mustang just to destroy it is not the best idea...

MisterZ, I should have asked about this earlier but I'll ask it now, was there a closer shot of the 1992+ Ford Taurus SHO seen the the left here? /vehicle_28871-Jaguar-XJ6-Series-III-1979.html
They were not very common and it was another then new Ford they wrecked for this scene.

Well, if the producers have connections, it could have been vehicles provided for product placement. Would have absorbed much of the budget. Considering 13 of the 24 cars are brand new (or somewhat new) it wouldn't have been hard to get new cars to crash, since most movies get most of its budgets from the product placement.

yeah, seen that way, make sense to me ( but still , they could had placed the Mustang & Taurus somewhere else... :) )

A lot of the 'new' cars you see getting wrecked in movies and such I was told years ago by someone in the know are the cars that can't be sold (Have to be destroyed, most just get crushed?) due to liability issues, stuff like R&D cars, prototypes, cars that were somehow damaged in transit or storage (Like in a flood?)and of course, those infamous "Factory Buyback" cars?(A 'Lemon' they were made to buy back from the buyer.)
