Pretty sure it's a 41-46 AK Series.

As said here, these 1941-47 trucks are unofficially called Art Deco by fans, but Chevrolet didn't give this truck line a real name, only model codes. The AK model size code was used only for the ½-ton models, and only for the 1941 ones.

If this pick-up is obviously a small model, and seems indeed to be a ½-ton model, no detail can help us to identify here a 1941-42 Light Delivery pickup over a 1946-47 3100 one. So if we use 1941 as default model year, would it be accurate to use the [AK] model size code, as we don't really know the MY? In contrast, the Chevrolet 3104 model code is common for all ½-ton pickup until 1959:

⇒ 1941 Chevrolet Light Delivery [AK]?
⇒ 1941 Chevrolet Light Delivery [3104]?
⇒ 1941 Chevrolet Light Delivery?

I wouldn't have think that it'd be that difficult to ID it.

Whatever the model year, the ½-ton Light Delivery / 3100 pickup had a single reinforcement vertical bar on the bed side, while the Three-Quarter-Ton / 3600 model had 2 of them:

(1942 ½-ton Light Delivery pickup // 1942 Three-Quarter-Ton one)

From what is visible, I think that the truck of this page is a ½-ton model, i.e., when using the default 1941 model year, a Light Delivery model.
The only remaining question is: which code, if any? I think the [3104] would be the best one, as the [AK] is really too specific (1941 only) be used as a default one.

Can the glitter of the grille indicate a just-pre-WWII model?

Unfortunately not. As you can see with this 1941 model and this 1946 one, there is no visible difference between the "civilian" models, and the less shiny grille of "our" pickup is most likely the result of its 50 years of existence in November 1995.

A painted grille would have indicated a mid-1942 to mid-1946 model, but the other differences can't be seen in movie screenshots.

Edit: no [3104] factory code, finally?
