Found a lot of 99s with plastic trim on GTcarlot - I thought it was supposed to be discontinued after 1997?

I did notice a definite change: for 1999 all Cavaliers got new seats with ‘clamshell’ stitching. This is especially evident on the rear bench when you compare it to a 1995-98.
For 1997 these seats were restricted to the RS and Z24, and in 1998 only the Z24 had those seats.

The 1999 brochure lists an appearance package with body colored bumpers and trim so the plastic must have been a basic base level feature

In short: unpainted plastic trim was optional on the base from 1995-96, and available with the Exterior Appearance Package from 1997-99.
