No, the Speedster came after the Coupé and the Convertible. |

3 gauge dashboard makes harpers' car a 356a model speedster 1956 I would say due to the small bumper uprights and beehive tail lights, no exhaust cutouts |

There were actually two Porsche 356 Speedsters used to film the movie Harper. If you watch the movie you can clearly watch the front license plate move from above the bumper to below the bumper in several scenes. I previously owned one of the two Speedsters. A 1954 Pre A serial # 80076. It was the car that was driven into the ravine at the end of the movie. The car was purchased from Porsche Foreign Salvage in Los Angeles and put into drivable condition. I purchased it in 1981 and drove the car thru 1989 when I sold it to a collector in Campbell CA. The car had some pan rust and a lot of metal repair. It's original Speedster Blue paint had been changed to white. It also had a replaced drivers door from Porsche Speedster 356 serial # 80020. I researched the serial number and the car is now painted Red. |

Main is not the 1954 you described (A-type hood crest) and also not 1955 as listed (A-type hood crest on a pre-A car makes 1955) but it has the A-type sills, first model year for 356 A was 1956, as already posted by @bluecoupes. Made for U.S. by the headlamps? |
