This is a pre 1968 Marathon A12. The Checker Marathon was officially introduced to the US consumer market in February 1960, however actual sales started in the New York and New England region of the US in the summer of 1959. Checker started testing the consumer market as early as 1950, but non taxi sales were very small until 1960. Production of this style Checker was from the fall of 1958 to the summer of 1982. Checker Manufacturing Corporation is still in business, CMC makes body stampings for General Motors, body panels for Chevy trucks and the chassis for the Cadillac CTS. |

The Marathon was not introduced until the 1961 model year. Superbas and Marathons were both offered '61 to '63, then just Marathons from '64 on, per NADA listings. |

If this is the civilian model (i.e. the actual Marathon), then it's an A12, not an A11. The A11 was the fleet-only model. |
