The partly seen from the rear vehicle looks to be an ex-RAF Fordson WOT1/A1 Airfield crash tender ![]() ![]() The main fire engine does not look like a Morris-Commercial, Leyland or Dennis to me... so far. |

I'd agree with the Fordson WOT1 and think its worth an entry. |

I wonder if this is also a Fordson maybe a 1930's BB 6X4 of which I have seen crash tender versions. |

I don't believe its a 1930s Fordson. The bonnet looks too high by comparing the position of the headlamps, front wings and the lower side louvre positions. It also eliminates the early Bedford WLG trucks. The 'streamlined' back-end styling would be 1934-1939 I guess. |

Not a 6x4 either as can see rear wheel arch in last thumb. -- Last edit: 2017-05-13 09:55:59 |

This has irritated me as fire engines are so well documented generally and we have good views of bodywork. A Fordson reg.CDD121 with John Kerr domestic fire tender bodywork has recently been restored. It's not the same but it has many styling similarities with this one and John Kerr also made aircraft fire tenders . ![]() Link to "www.facebook.com" -- Last edit: 2017-08-03 16:37:42 |

Well done JCB! Its troubled me also trying to match the chassis/front end. I guess I was hooked up on its similarity to Leyland but it looks too small, however the John Kerr connection leads to it possibly being a Commer G-series GL3 3-tonner? ![]() Bonnet louvres headlights and front wings all match I believe. Commer Centaur looks like a good match. Like me you have probably googled all combinations of Commer / Kerr / airport / fire etc etc but found nowt ![]() There is not much on John Kerr with regards to fire appliances , loads on Extinguishers and they still exist as Kerr Fire and I am beginning to wonder if they just did the plumbing work and someone else did the bodies. Another similar' John Kerr ' on an Albion - http://www.fire-engine-photos.com/picture/number706 -- Last edit: 2017-08-13 17:47:51 |

Added information that could help identify further the fire engines in use at the airport and for IMPDb... Airfield footage filmed at Luton Airport Bedfordshire, north of London, from IMDb - Trivia, but not listed unnder filming locations! At the time that this movie was being made, the airfield was still under Air Ministry control, but it was due to be given back to its owners, Luton Borough Council the following year. Some of the buildings are still recognisable as those I saw back in the 1990s at the northern end of the much larger and renamed London Luton Airport now used by EasyJet and Ryanair. |
