It is useful to paste them in the comments if you did the search when adding the car, so we know that the info was already from DVLA and not guessed or recognized ;)

Ok, I can understand that, however, the use of pasting all the unwanted junk information 'per se' seems wasteful? This website is getting filled with DVLA copy/paste, much of it not useful: 'CO2 output', 'unlicenced', etc etc? It's understandable if there is confirmation required, but in many recent cases the page creator has already determined the 'year of manufacture' & 'engine size' and 'trim level' before pages are made live...

It seems odd that (some) admins seem quick to criticise long entries with 'that's not useful' comments, but DVLA junk seems more pointless, to me :)

Granted, 'unlicenced' and 'CO2 output' are utterly useless, but other details throw up some interesting details of a vehicle's life, eg: the DAF truck mentioned above which apparently only survived 18 months and the red diesel Transit that now has a petrol engine.

Ok. However, did this Beetle entry get any extra worthwhile information?

The Cortina in this set is in that brown/red colour that Ford used on the circa 81-83 Cortinas (can't remember the name at the moment), and a single line mentioning that point would suffice.

Please note this isn't critisism of Exiv96 or anyone personally, but I wanted to make the point in the light of so much DVLA junk being posted without being edited first :) It does seem to make pages look messy?

(Maybe this discussion should move to the forum)

Well, I usually just paste the DVLA info up to color name + Mycarcheck sentence "according to our records...", but I do not know if - as you said - all these info are useful or not for each car.

I am in favour of edited information, may it come from DVLA or other sources.

In the case of DVLA the Year of Manufacture or, if not available the Date of First Registration is interesting. Sometimes the Cylinder Capacity (cc) can help to define the exact model, but the given information is not always correct (in this case it is correct). All the other information is rarely of interest.

BTW, this one is a 1302 of 1972 production.

So it should be [Typ 113] ? How do you tell a Super Beetle from a standard [Typ 1] ?

We should keep [Typ 1] as a generic term for all 'Beetles' until we have some smarter search routines.

The 1302 can be identified by the extra banana-shaped vents behind the rear side windows. You can just see them.

I agree, currently we should keep Typ 1 for all Beetle, like we keep Typ 2 for T1/2/3 vans)
