electra225 ◊ 2017-10-05 12:18	I am not convinced that the last thumb shows the Fiat 2800. At the time it was awful (and inside Italy forbidden by fascist laws) to use foreign words even in dashboards.

You do know that Mussolini was bailed out of captivity by German paratroopers? And that in 1944 the north of Italy was very much under axis control? And that Fiat is located in Torino, which is in the north of Italy? I do, however, doubt that this car is from 1944 as civilian car production had been halted with the outbreak of the war. Wikipedia states that the 2800 "Limousine" (Berlina) was made until 1941, however the 2800 CMC (military spec. Torpedo) was kept in production until 1944. -- Last edit: 2017-10-05 15:55:39
electra225 ◊ 2017-10-05 17:34	The story is a bit more complicated. As the war faith was clear in the Summer of 1943, The King rejected Mussolini as cheaf of the Government. General Badolgio was the new premier and Mussolini was for a while jailed untill the famous German paratroopers raid bailed him out of captivity. In the Summer the King made a secret peace treatment with the allied in order to be able to escape safely from Rome and reach the South of Italy already under US and British occupation. After the German taking of Mussini they created an alternative state in Northern Italy no more under the King control but against him >(The Republic of Salò). Obviously this meant a sort of civil war inside WW2. The latter State, allied with the Nazi Germany faced partisans organization as well the unfortunately slow US penetration to North. Germana actually left Italy about a year and half later when they were forced to reach Germany which was collapsing both to Russians penetrating from East and to the British and Americans (as well other allied forces) coming from France. ABOUT THE USE OF FOREIGH WORDS IN FASCIST ITALY, THEY WERE BANNED IN A NATIONALIST INTENT. FOR INSTANCE WE ITALIANS DIDN'T HAVE AN ITALIAN WORD FOR "DRIVER" AS WE HAD USED THE FRENCH WORD "CHAFFEUR" INSTEAD. AT THE TIME THERE WAS NOT YET A MARKETING INTENDED FOR EXPORT AND DOMESTIC LANGUAGES WERE USED IN THE INSTRUMENTS. My basic knowledge of WWII: 1st September 1939: Invasion of Poland September 1939: Molotov feigns a peace treaty between the USSR and the Baltic states, allegedly to secure their independence for the next twenty years or so, but in reality, he's bent on getting them back in the USSR, breaching the Treaty of Tartu. They are quietly occupied by the fourth quarter of 1939 and annexed in the summer of 1940. June 22, 1941: Operation Barbarossa. Germany attacks the USSR, breaching the German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. Germany occupies the Baltic States. December 7, 1941: The Japanese attack Pearl Harbor. US declares war on Japan the next day. 1943: The Moscow Conference takes place. Summer-fall 1944: Soviet troops arrive in the Baltics and reoccupy them. chicomarx ◊ 2017-12-25 03:16	The point of no return was the occupation of entire Czechoslovakia beyond the Sudetenland, that was imperialism. There were no ethnic German peoples there. Hitler was spoiled by the easy annexation of Austria and the warm welcome he received. And of course driven to repair the loss of WW-I and build an empire against Stalin's Soviet Union. Lateef has taken some time off btw.
