No something bigger , Seddon ?? another BRS truck with 40ft flat trailer with two old style railway containers. Link to "public.fotki.com" -- Last edit: 2017-10-20 08:27:43 |

Unlike the Seddon the drip-rail over the cab door is rounded and follows the window outline. Can't help thinking its more like a Bedford S or C-type 10-ton tractor unit but cannot say if it would apply to this load. /vehicle_280614-Bedford-C-Type-1957.html Also the rear view mirror is mounted rather unusually low in the second thumbnail. |

After watching a clip of the movie it appears to be a normal control truck by the mirror being inline with bottom of the door glass as it passes. The mirror mount is seen and is the combined mount and door hinge as used on the Bedford J. Enlarged view of mirror mounting position. A Bedford J8 tractor unit, without seeing more, so only 50% probability Rather rare in the UK; so why did BRS have the J type in addition to the more commonly BRS 'S' or 'C' type? -- Last edit: 2017-10-22 15:19:22 |

When did S and C types finish production?? Was there a gap in 1966 until heavier TK versions (or whatever else) were developed?? |

AFAIK there was no gap and the TK directly replaced the C (and S types) in September 1960; the RL cab continued in production until 1969 using the old cab when the MK was introduced. C-types (4 to 10 tons); replaced by the TK (2 to 12 tons) at introduction Sept 1960, later KM (14 to 24 tons) from 1966. I think I've discounted the possibility of this being a Bedford now as the J8 tractor is so unlikely. edit: BRS parcels used J8 tractor units but not suitable here in the movie. Found as a 1959–1966 AEC Mandator MkV Link to "public.fotki.com" 1. Rear quarter glass shape 2. High position of hose mountings 3. Mirror mounted low 4. Short curved drip rail 5. Rectangular rear lights https://en.wheelsage.org/aec/mandator/37119/pictures/xx3x4l/ -- Last edit: 2017-10-23 20:40:44 |

I think your efforts deserve the page (and it's arguably a 2 as deliberately included to make a point about heavy freight being unable to go by rail during Britannia bridge closure), so have switched the Mini van to a new page. |

Well done , I knew it wasn't a Bedford J as tractor unit far too high and trailer too big. -- Last edit: 2017-10-24 19:40:04 |
