Early 1990s Chrysler wheelcover in the crusher? |

This thing carried the 626 into the crusher at the end, so there should be a better angle of this machine. |

Did they wreck the 626 first, because the body looked like it was in good condition |

I am pretty sure this is an older Caterpillar 950 by the arm design http://file.seekpart.com/productsimage/2014/11/3/20141131221460324.jpg Link to "www.micoequipment.com" -- Last edit: 2017-10-24 10:52:23 |

They converted the 626 into a 'Skidplate racer' - a front wheel drive car with metal plates welded to the rear wheels in place of tires. A step above a demolition derby, but not a big step. The implication seems to be it was in rough shape mechanically: https://jalopnik.com/the-worst-idea-in-racing-1819621196 Jalopnik's Twitter implies they kept it, though: https://twitter.com/Jalopnik/status/920809633698037761 I should probably watch the show... |

Okay, I watched the clip at the end of the show. The 2* loader that carried the 626 is not the the same as the 1* loader in this short clip. It is completely different in every detail (wheels, forklift attachment, decals) and has a clearly visible Caterpillar 924K model number. |

Thanks, I watched the show last night. I figured since they mentioned that each car is usually good for several races, and that they didn't show the 626 being crushed, that it was probably pulled off the crusher to be used again (and again...) |
