GAZ 24-24 for Czechoslovakian VB? Nope. I don't think so. I suppose they were on CSSR, just on few (at last) military Red Army bases, as fast response staff vehicles. |

I just thought so because I recalled that photo by Jagermeister of 24-24 from veteran parade in Prešov and russian Wiki says that 24-24/34 "was a more powerful version of the basic car for the KGB and other special services of both the USSR and the allied socialist countries". Anyway,"In the exterior of GAZ-24-34 there are no differences from the base GAZ-24-10" ![]() |

Wiki says ''...and the allied socialist countries'' wrong. Never heard about GAZ 23, 24-24 or 24-34 on Polish Government Protection Bureau (theoreticaly the most possible user), however GAZ-13s were quite common, in different role. Forget about PL Militia and security office. Since early 70s they had limited numbers of Fiat 132. Fast enough. And similar situation was on other European communist countries most probably. Every Volga V8 was 'crème de la crème' of its time, secret special, rare thing even on KGB garages. Inaccessible for foreign friends. |
