The only pic of a car like this with a four bar bumper I have seen is a 1928 Peerless. The bumper may be an aftermarket item. More checking to do. |

This is a Cadillac - a Fleetwood bodied 1927 314 sedan as far as I can work out. I suspect the four bar bumper is an accessory item. -- Last edit: 2007-06-11 08:20:30 |

1927 is the correct year. The body is definitely by Fleetwood. It's either the 7-pass. "Custom Imperial" or the 7-pass. "Custom Suburban". The movie car features the optional side-mounted spare-wheels. So far as I know the flat, two-bar bumpers [that look like 4-bar type owing to the chrome trim] were standard equipment on the "Custom" models. |

I don't know if that bumper's stock or not, but it probably is. Because in the '70s my friend had a very similar Caddy. It had a rear-mounted spare, disc wheels, the same front bumper and a similar slanted windshield with triangular windows behind it and a visor above. We heard the term "Madam X" associated with the windshield design. When Joe bought the car he was told it was a '27 but later learned it was a '26 - probably a late one. -- Last edit: 2021-06-16 13:12:15 |
