![]() NO 698 - "1907 Burrell 7 nhp 14 ton Double Crank Compound Showmans Road Loco - Princess Royal, Works No. 2879 This engine was originally called "Lord Nelson" and was the second Burrell to be purchased by Henry Thurston of Stansted, Essex, with whom it travelled with his Savage built steam driven Scenic Railway driving the lights. In 1917 ownership passed to his son Henry Junior, who travelled with a set of Scenic Motors and later a Noah’s Ark. Sussex Showman F. Harris & Sons acquired it in 1933 and for a time carried the name "Sweet Nothing" though shortly afterwards the name was changed to 'Princess Royal", the name it still carries today. Purchased for preservation in 1957." |
