Since the blonde guy is part of the team, nearly all episodes are totally shitty. |

It ended for me when Ben joined. Then they started with all the pointless action and slo-mo/sped-up cams. |

for once we agree guess budget was slashed as no more location shooting, and they change the tone of the show into a silly one the Tom Kranich era was the best and also liked the Gedeon Burkhard one -- Last edit: 2018-03-31 17:33:51 |

I feel the same. Below season 24 were the best episodes and partners of Semir. But I like the seasons with Alex, too. -- Last edit: 2018-03-31 20:44:27 |

My favourite time of this series was 20 years ago when Semir and Andre were the main characters. Back then, as teenager, I watched every episode (what really annoyed my father). Eps aired since year 2000 I didn't enjoy much anymore. 10 years ago, after long break I saw new (back then) ep. and it was full of dissapointing pseudo Matrix effects |

I personally think Tom Kranich was the best character. Looking at these old episodes has a certain feel of "authenticity" of it, as more location shooting was done back then. Real locations in Cologne, Düsseldorf or other cities in the area have become rarer, both in action and non-action scenes by now. Also, in earlier episodes featuring Tom Kranich (and also Jan Richter), they used more real Autobahns, before starting to use this shitty "Filmautobahn". Although they always praised that it looks like a "real Autobahn", it does not look real at all. Some of the episodes with Alex had action scenes shot on the new A30 near Bad Oeynhausen, which was quite refreshing. Although the late Tom Kranich episodes and the ones with Chris Ritter mostly used the Filmautobahn, they were also very nice, as were the first seasons of Ben Jäger. However, when producers found out that viewers liked the funny aspects of Ben's character, they exaggerated it, by letting Semir and Ben become comedians, resulting in some pretty bad seasons. The later Ben Jäger episodes, and nearly all Alex Brandt episodes were considerably darker and more serious again, which I really liked. The story of Semir's divorce added a good dramatic backstory found in several seasons, and him being depressed and angry was very good after years of being the sidekick of a joke-cracking Ben Jäger. But then, producers did the most stupid thing imagineable: They decided to get rid of Alex Brandt and introduced Paul Renner (the blonde guy I was talking about earlier). They didn't even think about getting a proper introduction for him. While Semir meets every previous partner during a case investigation, which results in both characters having to work together although they do not like each other at first, Paul Renner has no introduction. A "flashback sequence" shows him as a child helping Semir to stop some criminals. Wow, cool. It seems the producers desperately tried to create a figure similar to Ben, but they failed completely. Paul Renner just isn't funny, and has no character. His "enthusiasm to water sports" is only good to fill some empty minutes of screentime by showing a few "surf stunts" (boooooring), but everything else is faceless. The colorful clothes only emphasize the fact that he is a dull character (even bright yellow shoes do not help against that), and his lack of character really makes me hope that this series is discontinued. |

Or at least we can also hope that they'll write off Paul in some way, hopefully sooner than later. |

My guess is the showrunners will just keep trying to find somebody they feel can bring the umph back to the show. |

For me cobra 11 ended with Ben, these upcoming over the top series with every bullshit imaginable was end for me.They introduces futuristic weapons, nuclear weapons, secret armies that want every episode end of world and also they bring back Andre Fuchs. This became parody on its own... For me best episodes were with Tom, André and Jan Richter.Great mix of action, drama and little comedy. They doesnt need all these things above. I hope cobra 11 ended soon, this is agony but I assume Germans like violent car crashes on tv screen... |

there aren't even as many crashes like they used to do.... and they aren't that big in scope either , you don't see crashes of 10 + vehicles at once guess a result of slashed budget -- Last edit: 2018-04-02 20:32:06 |

I think peak of these highway pileups were last two seasons with Tom before Chris introduction. These crashes were greatly directed with multiple cars in the air. But now they abandon these multiple crashes, but instead they wreck one car(Somethimes very valuable) with fabulous stunt. Also I think Cobra 11 is greatly sponsored by BMW and Mercedes. But new cars by Mercedes are more prominent. |
