Nash Metropolitan, or Metropolitan ? |

If the Wikipedia entry is correct, I imagine that it would be a 'Metropolitan', sold by Austin but without any Austin name badges. The Metropolitan was made in right hand drive form for the UK market, so this one is probably right hand drive too, so it's not "made for USA". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nash_Metropolitan |

Correct Metropolitan 1500 Hardtop. Metropolitan was a 'brand' and the cars (hardtop and convertible) were badged as such for the UK. Nash originated the design and presumably owned the tooling for the body so the car was essentially of US design but manufactured at Longbridge in the UK. After Austin had been assembling the vehicle for Nash for the American market, using a lot of Austin components, Nash agreed some time after that Austin could sell the car in other markets where BMC sold cars. |

I believe part of the deal was that BMC couldn't sell them in anywhere Nash-Hudson also traded. |
