I see we have 200 of these labelled as marathons and 945 as Taxicabs. I thought Marathon was just the name for the cars sold to the public from 1960 - maybe? The car here has single headlights but I am not sure when they went to dual lights - c 1960? |

The Checker Marathon is an automobile produced by the Checker Motors Corporation of Kalamazoo, Michigan, between 1961 and 1982. It was marketed as a passenger car for consumers, as opposed to the similar Taxi, which was aimed at fleet buyers. |

It looks like Checker didn't choose 'rigid' names of their cars actually. ![]() The prospects show: A11, Taxicab, Marathon Taxicab, etc. For same taxi versions. -- Last edit: 2018-04-16 13:22:09 |

Actually looks like an A9 to me with the starburst grill. |

Yes, this configuration predates the Marathon model and I believe the front design ended with the last of the Superbas in 1963. -- Last edit: 2021-05-03 01:57:32 |
