This generation was sold into 1996 for nearly all non-JDM and all LHD, so the Japanese market ending in 1995 is irrelevant. It wasn't until 1996 it was redesigned in this country from this http://www.automobile-catalog.com/model/mitsubishi/lancer_5gen.html into this http://www.automobile-catalog.com/model/mitsubishi/lancer_6gen.html. Registration points to 1996 for this car, regarding Lagos and no earlier than January 1993. Cars in 1992 didn't have that plate format. Change this back to 1996. I didn't put 1992 for a reason, as I found no examples of Lancers in this guise during 1992. At earliest 1994 cars resembled this, before 1996 retirement. Mitsubishi had a large presence in this country between the 1970s and 2000s, that the majority of cars there were purchased brand new locally. Basing this strictly on other markets, doesn't give an accurate picture. -- Last edit: 2018-07-15 20:56:40 |

I find that registrations aren't always trustworthy for putting a year, unless the plate returns a VIN. Production ended in October 1995, so indeed some could be sold as 1996 models in export markets, but the model years are usually cut off when the car is not made into next year (there are exeptions, however, such as the 1960 Edsel). |
