originally started out as a Fordson 30CWT 4x2 WOT3 GS truck in RAF use in WW2, after the war when surplussed it has been fitted with a "van" body, and a taller winscreen and matching door tops, as they are higher than original..the "Police" sign is a prop, as i doubt it would have served postwar with the police, as it was too unique a modification and would have been expensive to run...it isnt a WW2 crew coach as suggested elsewhere, as these were on the WOT1 6x4 chassis..the picture clearly shows the vehicle to be 4x2, hence it was the 30CWT WOT3 GS truck originally. -- Last edit: 2007-07-15 11:48:59 |

SML 640 = Middlesex, Nov 47 to Oct 49 "allocated in blocks", so post-war disposal went to an official fleet, not just any old Joe Bloggs. |

The same or similar van body on a Fordson WOT3 (but without the wartime bumper bar over the radiator) seen in The Gentle Gunman, Movie, 1952 another Ealing Studios Movie. |
