Nothing says Cooper. Winged bonnet badge with dense grille probably means Oct 96 Mini Classic (previously Mayfair). |

@dsl, this one has pre-1994 plate (which seems genuine) and in the 1997+ range we didn't get Classic but only British Open, Cooper and Cooper Sport Pack |

OK - happy to revise to 94-ish Mayfair (or a year or 2 earlier if plate suggests). Away from home so can't check my Mini bible for any special editions. |

I cannot in any way read it, maybe @humungus or @AleX_DJ could pull some trick to have at least a partial one, but this one seems very hard anyway, if it is a Roma plate with a letter in the second digit would be 1991-94. Since 1994 plates have the AA000AA format. @dsl, I'm not 100% sure this list is complete (I'd have to double check in my magazines, sometimes I noticed misses in older years and pre-80s things are almost absent, but an OK source since the 90s - pics are often unrelated though), but here there are Mini versions sold in Italy, if you may find it useful https://www.automoto.it/catalogo/austin-rover/mini/m-497#app-vehicles https://www.automoto.it/catalogo/rover/mini/m-1489#app-vehicles https://www.automoto.it/catalogo/mini/mini/m-1220#app-vehicles Link to "www.automoto.it" https://www.automoto.it/catalogo/rover/mini-cabrio/m-1490#app-vehicles Also, according to price lists and as indicated here, since October 1996 Mini is used as a brand instead of Rover, but probably this has already been discussed before? |

Mayfair looks right to me. The only other obvious 94-ish thing on those lists (which are useful and do look convincing for content) was one I didn't expect to see for I because the name would be odd there - the Italian Job edition, in white. Haven't seen the idea that after October 1996 Mini was used as a brand instead of Rover - if true, it was a quirk for Italy only as far as I can tell. |

Impressive at least I was right being a Roma plate of those years Anyway, @dsl, I really didn't know 1997+ Mini branding applied only to Italy, but I'm not an expert I can confirm that all my magazines' price list have Mini as a separate brand since October 1996 (like also that online archive I linked), and I see cars had only Mini winged logo (but I believe googling a bit this was everywhere?). Not sure if changing our listings accordingly would be an improvement or would do more harm than good? 7 October 1996 price list, the first with Mini as a brand, taken from a February 1997 magazine: |
