The site has this listed as a 1977, but it's actually a 1987 model FLA 96 Freightliner Cabover. The engine is a Cummins Big Cam III, 350 horsepower, with a 9 speed Eaton and 3.42:1 rear end ratio. Truck is currently located in Seward, Nebraska, USA |

This truck sold quite a while ago for about 21,000 dollars. Most of the information available on the truck was listed here by the owner: Link to "cdllife.com" This 96 suffix isn't accurate, Pre-1988 FLA models never had 96-inch cabs, this truck is a Freightliner FLA 86 64 T. -- Last edit: 2023-07-04 08:15:39 |

I disagree. The side of the cab shows the door, a vertical grab bar, a small cargo door, a second grab bar, a large cargo door, and then the back of cab. 86 inch cabs did not have both cargo doors on each side. This is the standard configuration of the 96 in BBC cab. So this is indeed a 1986 FLT-9664-T or identical-looking 1987–88 FLA-9664-T 71-Series-Stretched Tiltline COE Dual-Drive Tractor. What the prior owner said about it being an 87 FLA totally jibes. Incidentally, the G1 toy Optimus Prime truck was most closely based on an earlier very similar counterpart to this model, the 1976–79 FLT-9664-T. Much like this one, it had the 2 grab bars, smaller cargo door, and larger cargo door, on each side. -- Last edit: 2024-07-27 06:06:21 |
