Ep. 1.02 00:31:02 This is not the original car from Grease, but a replica, built by Dick Dean for the Barris Motor Car Collection, now displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A. According to Mr. Leno, 'Greased Lightning' was built by George Barris & Dick Dean and I guess that's where this rumour started, supported by the fact that said replica once was part of the Barris Motor Car Collection and Barris even trademarked and licensed it to merchandise producers. Contrary to popular belief 'Greased Lightning' is not an original Barris Kustom and apparently Dick Dean wasn't involved in the construction of the original one either. Eddie Paul, trading as 'E.P. Industries' of San Francisco, "located, restored and customized thirty vintage cars" seen in the movie and also was involved with the stunt department and that's where the original 'Greased Lightning' was created. |
