Are there versions of the adolescent vandalism game known in the US as "mailbox baseball" in other parts of the world? |

No No mailboxes generally in the UK... delivered right to our door so saves getting wet to collect the mail. Baseball.... that must be a North American sport? |

We don't have mailboxes in the UK because most houses have tiny front gardens (or front lawn or yard as Americans would say), and postmen only have to walk a few steps from the street to the door, which has a metal flap which they post letters through which land on the doormat inside, we call them letterboxes, although normally there's no box. Some big houses with front gates and farmhouses may have outside letterboxes but you won't see any American-style mailboxes (little tin box on a wooden post) in Britain. As for other countries, I don't know, although that design of mailbox is a very American thing, it's like you don't see red double decker buses in America. Also in Britain paperboys don't throw rolled up newspapers at the front door while they are cycling past, they post them through the letterbox. -- Last edit: 2007-09-28 17:08:51 |

I wonder if anyone's ever gotten so fed up of kids playing mailbox baseball that they filled their mailbox with explosives. -- Last edit: 2007-09-28 17:07:51 |

I know there are some people who have gotten tired of having their mailboxes destroyed so many times that they build a brick structure around them, or enclose them in a protective 'cage' made of thicker metal bars, but I've never heard of them being booby trapped. |

Well I don't think the police would look too kindly on it! |

The whole game works better with a scooter: /vehicle_198090-Jaguar-XJ8-X308.html |
