The final farewell edition released in Feb 81 in Pewter metallic (= dark silver, 580 made) on GT and bronze metallic on roadster (420 made) had been made previously and put into storage. So there was no official 1981 production, although some bin end specials were made behind the scenes by MG staff for themselves, using left-over parts. As shown, this looks mid-70s before rubber bumper. Has tints, but not the rubber insets on over-riders, nor the (March 76) rear pillar badge. But it could be a left-over 1980 which lingered in showrooms until 1981 registration and has been retro'd with older bumpers (minus the insets).
