I've been wondering.. I know that there have been many cars back in the day which had no tacho, but here, in front of the steering wheel, there is no speedo either. Could it be that someone just sticked the steering wheel on the passenger's side dashboard to make it seem as if the scene takes place in an LHD country?? The dashboard itself is very reminiscent of Humber Hawk (1957–1967) or maybe some other Rootes car: |

The film was shot in Canada and the UK, so yes, they probably had to fake a Canadian scene back in the UK. |

Yes - I think a RHD big Humber with fake steering wheel. Maybe a Super Snipe perhaps S3 or S4 - intricate quarterlight catch, and if same car has seatbelts in thumb so mid-60s??? Am away from home so can't check what dashboard bits happened when. Not totally convinced this is the Humber - any chance it's a late 50s black US thing?? |

So the Humber was used as a stand-in to avoid breaking the windscreen of the "late 50s black US thing". |

Black thing looks to me a 1959 or 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood 75. |

Straight slanted screen pillar and deep windscreen mean Sept 64 Hawk S4 or Super Snipe S5 saloon - the estate had older style cabin. Loads of walnut, but both cars had it by then. Or it could even be an Imperial. Entering as Super Snipe to clear it. And agree the black US stunt double smells Cadillacy. |
