Tuk Tuk is just a generic nickname for such vehicles, but isn't there a more accurate name for this one? (as the nickname may depend on the region or the style of these vehicles) -- Last edit: 2006-06-24 12:36:23 |

Apparently these tuk tuk's are built by various manufacturers, however I couldnt find any of them listed anywhere, I dont know if theres too many of them to list, or nobody has gone to the trouble to track them all down. ![]() |

The Tuk-Tuk was based on a Daihatsu Midget 3-wheeled truck;the born of that traditional Thai's taxi was unlikely strange:in fact,'cause Daihatsu have many unsold lots of these vehicles, the Thailandese Govt. will accept to bought all those vehicles around 1962,then transformed in the famous Tuk-Tuk down there(name seems comes after an onomatopeics in local idiom that reproduces engine sound of the vehicle) |

Why is this listed as custom-made? It might well be a common Thai model that no-one has yet identified. |

All "Tuk Tuk" listed long time ago were renamed to "Custom Made Tuk Tuk" rather than "unknown", as at that time there was nobody on the site to identify these. -- Last edit: 2008-02-28 00:00:37 |
