I'd say it's a Commer Cob (or a Hillman Husky). |

Commer Cob looks a possibility from what I can see. ![]() |

I agree that it is a Commer Cob and from what I can make out a Series II from 1960. The Commer Cob is the van version of the Hillman Husky. The Husky Mk.I first appeared in 1954, followed by the Cob Mk.I in 1956. In 1958 both received a slightly different body styling and were than referred to as Series I. In 1960 the roof was slightly lowered to create the Series II. The final Series III (1963-65) received a facelift, but the rear end stayed unaltered, as far as I know. Later Husky/Cob versions were Hillman Imp based. Husky Mk.I ![]() Husky Series I ![]() Husky Series II or III ![]() --- In the background we see a Ford Taunus 17M [P3] 'Badewanne' ![]() |

The feature I remember well from the later Cob van and Huskey was the very basic door handle used on the front doors, unlike the earlier full-sized handles. (Its just visible in Alexander's second thumbnail picture.) Little more than a chromed hook only big enough for a finger or two plus above, a round button. Looked very cheap at the time, it may have been used also on the Commer 1500 PA and PB vans, I think. -- Last edit: 2007-10-10 13:53:54 |

...very basic door handle...little more than a chromed hook... I seem to remember this as the boot lid catch on some other Rootes product but I can't remember what. |
