Why leave off the 225 part |

Because not all 1979 Electras were 225, there was also Limited and Park Avenue models http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/buick/79bu/3.html -- Last edit: 2020-01-11 10:23:38 |

This is currently the only 1979 Electra on IMCDb listed without a 225 designation (and the only Electra between 1962 and 1984 without it either). I thought we reserved Park Avenue and Limited designations for 1980+ models. |

If the rules are being changed about 1977-79 Buick Electras though, that is fine, I'm just pointing out that IMCDb doesn't currently differentiate between Park Avenue/Limited/225 models for that generation. Hence why this particular one is all alone for the time being. |

My July 1980 edition of the NADA guide lists three Electra models for the 1979 model year: 1) "Electra 225" (bottom trim) 2) "Electra Limited" (middle trim) 3) "Electra Park Avenue" (top trim) All three levels came as both a 4-door sedan and a 2-door coupe. Note: The "225" designation does not appear as part of the Limited or Park Avenue model names. |

I've checked all the 1979 model comments and no one mentions why 225 is added to all. In the brochures, from 1975, the Limited model does not mention 225. And Park Avenue was first an option on the Limited before becoming it's own series for 1978. I want to check what the American Car Catalog book says, but it looks like the unknown admin added 225 without comment. -- Last edit: 2020-01-12 00:18:03 |

Well as I posted, the NADA guide makes it clear that only the bottom trim line carried the "225" designation. |
