The Brazilian-made VW Gol (or Fox in the USA) existed in many versions : 2 & 4 door sedan, 2 door wagon, hatchback, pickup. |

These things are everywhere in 'Batman Returns'! Practically every single car that lines the streets (including the taxis) are these little vee-dubs! Many of them have a third, working headlight in place of the logo (in the centre of the grille). -- Last edit: 2006-01-14 12:54:16 |

Every background car was like this, painted in different colours. Nearly all of them were destroyed... |

For some reason in this film (product placement with a 5 year-old car?) everyone in Gotham City drives this car. Although in the bit where the Batmobile smashes through a load of these I think some of the cars used may have been other cars dressed to look like these. -- Last edit: 2010-01-07 22:04:16 |

Yes, and obviously in respectable amounts. You could see several of them there in the 80ies (and later on on the junkyards). -- Last edit: 2012-02-05 18:34:08 (G-MANN) |

They sold the Fox in the USA through 1993, so they could indeed have been supplied by Volkswagen. |

Watched this film again last night, in the credits it says "Cars by Volkswagen United States Inc." Although not every background car in this film is a VW Fox, some cars are other things dressed up to look the same way (with a circular light in the middle of the grille, instead of the VW logo). I wonder why they wanted to make it look like everyone in Gotham drove the same car. |

You may be right, it might be the new Volkswagen Fox supplied by the Volkswagen of America. This one has wraparound indicators making this 1991-92 (At the time of filming) version. Comments? |

Volkswagen Fox based on the Polo Mk1/Audi 50. The Saveiro wasn't sold in the USA. The Rabbit pickup was based on the Golf Mk1. |
