1948 Pontiac Torpedo Deluxe Sedan Coupe. Unless we get a close up of the badge on the side we can't be certain if it is a six or an eight. |

This is not a Torpedo series .Being a fastback B body rather than a notchback A body model it is a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner 5 passenger sedan coupe series 25 six or 27 eight |

It's an 8, you can see that looking at the emblem on the side of the hood. There is a large '8' between the words Silver and Streak. The 6 just had 'Silver Streak'. And because of that its an 28. The 25 and 27 are the modelnumbers for the Torpedo, with 25 being the six and 27 being the 8. The Streamliners are the 26 and 28. So this is a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner Sedan Coupe Model 28 Silver Streak 8. I see a lot of people calling these models Pontiac Silver Streak. This is wrong. Silver Streak is the name of the engine, not the model. Besides that it has the DeLuxe trim. There are stainless spears on the front fender and door, stainless gravel guards instead of rubber ones. The rest of the trim is for the interior. Electric clock and a more luxurious steering wheel. -- Last edit: 2013-06-19 11:39:31 |
