Phantom II? |

No, I think more likely a 20/25, it isn't big enough to be a Phantom. |

It's a Sedanca de Ville. The double element front bumper suggests a Springfield Rolls Royce (which would be called a Coupe de Ville?). |

but it is a RHD. |

Yes. that's a problem for my theory... BUT, not all Springfields were LHD. Most of the Ghosts were RHD I think. Trouble is, I don't know about other Springfield Rolls Royces. We need help! |

It wasn'y difficult to find other Springfield Rolls-Royces with RHD. Here just two exampels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:1923-rolls-royce-archives.jpg and http://jimsgarage.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/dscn6209s.jpg |

Obviously it doesn't necessarily help with identification but at least it proves my point. BTW, I was told several years ago at a RREC rally that many Springfield customers insisted on RHD rather than LHD as having a Rolls which looked as if it had been imported from England was better than having an American built one. Does anybody know if this is true? |

I doubt if it is a Springfield, though, in spite of the (probably aftermarket) bumper; the rest of the body, what we can see of it, looks too British. And isn't it more likely that a British RR would be imported into Denmark than a Springfield? |

You're probably right. The painted headlights are unusual, too. |

European coachwork usually had bigger bumpers than English. Louvred bonnet was also common for orders outside the UK. Later twenties, early thirties, and I tend to guess it is a Phantom I/II, Limousine de Ville, from France or Belgium? Perhaps someone has another pic? -- Last edit: 2008-02-15 22:51:41 |

This is a 1927 Phantom I, chassis 102LF with coachwork by D'Ieteren Freres. It is in a Danish Museum and perfectly fits in the picture (no pun intended!) You can see it at http://www.veteranbiludlejning.dk. Since 1976 the headlamps have been rechromed and the winglamps replaced. |

My father happens to be the owner of exact that Rolls Royce. And no, its not in a Danish Museum, but in our garage, used for weddings. And the headlamps hasn't been rechromed. |
