Interesting that despite being registered in 1982, it has the old design of front grille and hood with chrome bumper. Rebuilt with old front or a rather 'confused' restoration as larger rear-lights are correct for later design. The squarer design with black plastic bumper was introduced at least in October 1980. Also it seems it has - like my 1975 CF, although in that case it was fitted aftermarket - the 2.3 Victor engine, not the 2 litre Cavalier/Ascona unit fitted from 1980. Seems to be something of a hybrid. |

It appears the 2-litre engine was fitted from 1984. "In 1984 the range was superceded by the CF2. Visually they were very similar the the CF1 with 1980 facelift. Only one engine was available, the 1979cc petrol. At this time the CF was also given front disk brakes." (A Bedford brochure on the following site confirms this CF2 introduction date.) Previous CF facelift (1980) had the following according to http://www.bedford-cf.co.uk/history.htm "In 1980 the whole range was given a facelift. This is when the plastic grilled front end was introduced. Most owners incorrectly call this model the CF2. At the same time the range was modified and now consisted of CF230, 250, 280 & 350. The engines were 1759 petrol for the 230 model with the rest having either the 2279cc petrol or the diesel, now increased to 2260cc." The descriptions on IMCDb, CF/CF2 and Mk1/Mk2, are a little confused at the moment - needs some thought and investigation I think. Three categories are needed. 'CF' Mk1, 'CF' Mk2,with 'CF2' being Mk3 is the only logical split i can think of. -- Last edit: 2008-01-06 18:12:22 |

FREDRICO I first Registered this van in1982 for Timac Engineering, -my company. It had been standing in the showroom for several months, so it was basicly an old model, although brand new. It had a petrol engine, although im not sure which model.i did about 80000 miles before selling it to a mate, for his son to use to go banger racing. It has lasted well!! |

As it was an old unsold model that was registered later, the latest it could be is mid-1980 with the new facelift front being introduced from October 1980. So manufactured during or before 1980 MY. |
