South Africa and some other export/locally produced or CKD markets did not use the 16" wheels low-load height set-up but the 20" wheels that UK trucks had on the 5-tons and above. So South Africa through rationalisation may have had the J5 front end on all their trucks I believe. I have a 1964 introduction for the J 4x4 pickup chassis but how long it lasted I don't know. Almost certainly 16" wheels, not the 20" wheels used on 4x4 J trucks, therefore J1 20/25cwt light truck. SA may have used the J5 style cab on the lighter variants also. |
