Vaz Lada 1600 (2106 I think?) Since the car is outside the Soviet Union I put the 2106 in the extra field. Is that OK? -- Last edit: 2005-11-30 16:16:02 |

Maybe we could put the "2106" in the chassis field since all Ladas have a fixed number, including Niva and Samara. And then keep the model field for the "commercial" name, i.e. 1600 in this case. -- Last edit: 2005-11-30 16:33:27 |

Sounds good to me |

Ok, but for russian VAZ it will be redundant, because it should be VAZ Lada 2106 as commercial name + [2106] chassis number, never mind. |

it is not a big problem I guess... We could even leave the model field empty for russian VAZ |

sixcyl has a point here, for instance the Lada 2105 (Or VAZ 2105 in Soviet) here the 2105 is the actual modelname, with addition of 1.3 or 1.5 for engine size. It´s problematic to be consequent about these cars |

I think it doesn't matter to fill the model field even for Russian VAZ, I think having the most accurate commercial name beeing the objective |

Is Vaz-Lada ...the same company as Polski Fiat.? Just wondering... as during the 70's these were sold as different companies in the UK. |

No they are different companies, but both produced cars under Fiat license. The Polski Fiat 125p resembles the VAZ cars but the chassis originates from the older Fiat 1500 Juventus, if I remember right here. |

Well,DAF 555; The Polski-Fiat 125p appear similar at Italian car that it say to be inspired, but it rides on a Fiat 1300-1500 modified floorpan and running gears;because in Poland was built only the 1.5lt.,engines were supplied on early ones(1968-1973)by Yugoslav Zastava,(that builds in 1976 the 1300-1500 still, with the smaller engine only, shared together with Polski-Fiat 125p for a cheap 1.3 lt.model of it,assembled both in Yugoslavia--as Polski 125pZ=Polski-Zastava--and in Poland--as Polski-Fiat 125p 1300 Ekonomiczny=cheap trim) For an uncommon case of destiny, also Zastava had ties mated at VAZ production in something:in fact,a VAZ 2104 Sanitet(=Ambulance)was available in Yugoslavia into'80s(together with some VAZ 2101 in CKD form assembled into early '70s,were the unique examples of VAZ-Lada "Made in Yugoslavia"),a variant that don't exist in Russia;absolutely,Zastava produces an hybrid wagon, the Zastava 1500 CC(C=C series;C=Combi),that on 1.5 lt.(same of Polski-Fiat 125p)powerplants,shown a...VAZ 2102 back, welded directly on Fiat 1300-1500 original coque!!!...What kind of puzzled cars!... PS About VAZ in photo(rarest VAZ in Rising Sun Country, more diffused meanwhile, for Asian geographic area,in Middle and Far East Asia),the Japanese Distributor was Mayekawa Trading Co.in early '80s |

Could be made for Canada. Lada exported cars there since 1979. First model was Lada 2106 with 1.5-liter engine. So 1979 Lada 1500 [2106] will be correct. |

Export version for USA and Kanada (most of them), called in USSR "Kanadka" ("Canadienne"?). First, from 1979 - 21061 ( http://denisovets.narod.ru/vaz/vazpages/vaz21061.html ) as Lada 1500 L ( http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%90%D0%97-2106 ) (but on picture - http://denisovets.narod.ru/vaz/vazprototips/VAZ21061_3.jpg - is 1500 S ![]() |
